Gmax and HIC (Head Impact Criterion) testing indicates the impact absorbed by an athlete upon impact with the playing field. Using a weight and an accelerometer, our specialist equipment measures the impact absorbed by the surface and thus the remaining force left for the user to absorb. If this remaining force is too great the risk of injury/concussion would be deemed too high.

Gmax results must be lower than 200g’s. This is outlined in ASTM Standard F355-A and ASTM Specification F1936. It is generally recommended that testing be carried out once or twice per year to ensure efficient monitoring.
